Our History
Sheet Harbour Sexual Health Centre served Sheet Harbour and its neighbouring communities for over two decades. In 2023, the Board of Directors began work on a new vision for the centre, which included expanding its services to Musquodoboit Harbour and the Musquodoboit Valley. With this new mandate came a new name. After seeking input from our community members, the Board of Directors selected SeaHorse Sexual Health Centre. The seahorse symbolizes many things that resonate with our centre and our work. Seahorses represent unity, strength, love and peace. Seahorses help us to question traditional gender roles and stereotypes, as most are bisexual and the males carry the deliver their babies. Finally, SeaHorse is a fitting name for our new centre because it connects our oceanside communities of the Eastern Shore with the farming communities of the Musquodoboit Valley. |
